Rosellas , original Artwork by Sarah Wallace-Smith , in collaboration with Angela Clark .

I’m a lover of art in all its forms. I've been fortunate enough in my life to be surrounded by artworks from famous  artists whose works hang in the big  galleries to street art , children’s art and unknown artists' art . What I love most of all and look for when I’m choosing art for myself is the story behind the artwork . Who was the artist, why did they compose their image that way and what inspired them .

I certainly know that when I create jewellery there are a million little things that build up before my creations takes form .

Never so much as the past two years have we been forced to draw on what has been immediately happening around us as we create .

For some of us we’ve been forced to look deeply into the why, where and how of life to gain perspective and inspiration.

These are the things that drew me to Sarah and Lauren in search of art to print onto silk that I hoped would resonate with you as it has with me .

Let me tell you a little about Sarah Wallace Smith, first  and the two paintings of hers we have printed on silk ……

Sarah is an award winning Bendigo based Artist .

Sarah loves to look past the heroes and victims as she mines fields of historical and cultural data, scuffing around in the detritus of the everyday.  ,

For example, old photos that never made it to the album exposing clues as to the landscape and environment of the time.

2020 has really made me make each day count , says Sarah. Her passion for drawing flora and fauna , creating more abstracted , symbolic work allows her the freedom to be bold and take chances .

Rossella’s and teacups ….

This painting explores the story around an old Arnott biscuit tin Sarah keeps her ANZAC’s in .

Thinking of generations of mothers and wives who’ve sent food to parcels to their men at war. They wait with equal measure of hope and dread for news. The joy of letters shared at the kitchen table, feeding their souls. Or the unfathomable .

Rosellas in pairs, memories of home in rural Australia. Teacups , some survive everyday wear and tear for generations, some don’t!

Letter openers or knife , red stain and drip ….. so much blood spilled on foreign soil, nothing to show at home but simply absence .

The white feather - A symbol of peace .

The scarves are made  using 100% Pure Silk Twill, with hand rolled edges .

Measurements : 90 x 90 cm’s
